YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport is proud to provide passengers with invisible disabilities with sunflower lanyards to help them show airport staff that they may need extra help or more time to complete travel-related procedures.
If you or the person you're traveling with has an invisible disability such as autism, chronic pain, epilepsy, low vision, hearing loss, dementia, anxiety disorders, brain damage, and many others, the lanyard represents a discreet symbol enabling airport staff to identify you and provide you with the best possible support.
Where can I get a sunflower lanyard?
Sunflower lanyards are available free of charge at the YUL information desk at door 4, on the departures level.
Can I reserve a lanyard in advance?
We don't have any advance reservation options, but you can pick one up at any time of day at the YUL information desk located at door 4 on the departures level.
Can I keep the same lanyard after my trip and bring it with me on my next trip?
Yes, the lanyard belongs to you, and you can use it on your next trip. In fact, many airports around the world have joined the Sunflower program.
Does the lanyard entitle me to special treatment or expedited security screening?
The program does not entitle travellers to special treatment or expedited security screening; rather, it serves as a reminder to airport staff to be more compassionate, to set aside time to provide extra assistance, and to enable travelers with these invisible disabilities to feel comfortable and confident.
Will the lanyard help me get assistance during the flight?
If you need assistance during your flight, the airline will be best placed to help you; you should also ask your airline for specialized assistance after the flight.
