On March 18, the Government of Canada announced the temporary closure of the Canadian-U.S. border to all non-essential traffic. For more details, see the notice available here.
On March 16, the Minister of Transport required that air carriers deny boarding to any passenger who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident on flights to Canada. The measure came into effect on Wednesday, March 18, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EDT. More details about the restrictions under this measure are available here.
In addition, the Government will redirect, effective at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, the arrivals of certain international passenger flights to four airports: Toronto Lester B. International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, and Calgary International Airport.
Domestic flights, as well as flights from sun destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean, and from St. Pierre-et-Miquelon, are not affected by this measure and can continue to operate on their regular routes and land at current Canadian destinations.
